MSI General is a premier DESIGNBUILD commercial construction general contractor offering Single Source Responsibility to clients. The Architect will implement creative solutions with precision while collaborating with Design, Estimating, and Construction teams.

The role emphasizes strong communication with clients and internal teams, ensuring design intent is met through construction documentation, site coordination, and adherence to codes and standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in architecture or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of construction/architecture experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Enscape, SketchUp, and Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Create and present plan sets, including site plans, floor plans, elevations, building section details, and other items as necessary to convey design intentions.
  • Develop and update construction documents and drawing details: check sets, shop and as-builts.
  • Research current municipal requirements, including zoning, setback, landscape, lighting, parking, easements, design standards, construction materials, and codes.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients from project start to completion.
  • Visit project jobsites to ensure construction adheres to architectural plans.

Position Description

Clear communication with our Design, Estimating, and Construction teams, and with our clients, is essential to achieve project goals through our proven, unique DESIGNBUILD process. The Architect implements creative solutions with expertise, precision, and a thorough understanding of how a built environment affects its end users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and present plan sets, including: site plans, floor plans, elevations, building section details, and other items as necessary to convey design intentions
  • Develop and update construction documents and drawing details: check sets, shop and as-builts
  • Research current municipal requirements, including: zoning, setback, landscape, lighting, parking, easements, design standards, construction materials, allowable heights and area, signage, fire protection and alarms
  • Collaborate with our team members and our clients from project start to completion
  • Visit project jobsites to ensure that construction adheres to architectural plans
Required Qualifications
  • At least an Associate’s Degree in Architecture or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in construction and/or architecture
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit, Enscape, SketchUp, Microsoft Office and possibly AutoCAD
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or related field
  • Member of the American Institute of Architects
  • State of Wisconsin Registration as an Architect
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to comprehend and retain highly detailed information
  • Ability to meet time constraints and adapt easily to changes and demands
  • A thorough understanding of value engineering, construction types and techniques, building materials, systems and codes, and the relationship between the design process and the construction process
Additional Responsibilities
  • Attend weekly company Job Progress meeting
  • Collaborate with the Estimating Team on project preconstruction services
  • Collaborate with the Sales Team to analyze all required items to start a project
  • Perform daily tasks of answering emails
  • Participate in the professional development of the entire Design Team
  • Participate in quarterly performance conversations with the Director of Design
