Stantec is seeking part-time on-call Archaeological Field Technicians for projects primarily in Central Pennsylvania. Candidates will be responsible for surveying, excavation, and recording archaeological sites and must possess a BA in Archaeology or Anthropology. Qualifications

• Experience in Mid-Atlantic archaeology preferred.
• Must possess a valid Real ID driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Survey transects up to fifteen miles in length on a daily basis.
• Completion of archaeological site forms and records.
• Excavation and identification of soil profiles and artifacts.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is currently recruiting for three part-time on call Archaeological Field Technician to work out of our Central Pennsylvania office on future projects throughout the country. The successful candidate should be located within normal commuting distance of our New Cumberland, Pennsylvania office.

Stantec is also currently recruiting three part-time on- call Archaeological Field Technicians near our Hampton, Virginia office for future projects throughout the country. The successful candidate should be located within normal commuting distance of our Hampton, Virginia office.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Survey transects up to fifteen miles in length on a daily basis
• Recordation and delineation of archaeological sites
• Completion of archaeological site forms, site sketches, profiles, logs, and other paperwork
• Excavation of shovel test pits, test units, trenches, or other excavation as needed
• Identification and description of soil profiles, horizons, artifacts, and cultural features
• Artifact organization, processing, and inventory

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Excellent written, oral, and computer skills
• Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Periodic travel required, including international travel
• Candidates must be able to work in project locations remote from their home office for extended time periods. Such remote deployments may recur with as little as three calendar days intervening between deployments.
• Must possess a valid Real ID driver’s license with clean record
• Drug screen required for position

Education and Experience

• BA degree in Archaeology or Anthropology
• Completion of an archaeological field school or a minimum of one year of professional archaeological experience (no academic experience may fill this requirement)
• Experience in Mid-Atlantic archaeology preferred
• Experience in Archaeological Survey
• Experience with completing archaeological forms and paperwork
• Experience identifying soil horizons, cultural features, and artifacts
• Experience in organizing and inventorying data
• Experience using ArcGIS Online and associated applications such as Survey 123 and Field Maps

• Min Pay Range: $25.00 Per Hour
• Max Pay Range: $36.00 Per Hour
• Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)
• Min Pay Range: CA Other Areas $25.00 Per Hour
• Max Pay Range: CA Other Areas $36.00 Per Hour
• Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
