Job description

SUMMARY STATEMENT

The ARCC Associate is responsible for performing the activities needed to support the College's physical education programs, intercollegiate athletic programs, county recreation programs, and selected community events. Responsibilities include setting up and monitoring the facility and athletic fields, supervision of student workers, and interacting with various aspects of the community.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • The ARCC Associate reports directly and is responsible to the Coordinator of ARCC & Athletics. This position requires only routine supervision.
  • The position shares the responsibility of assigned student workers and may coordinate the work of some temporary part-time employees and volunteers.
  • The ARCC Associate coordinates most closely with the college faculty & staff, coaches, students, recreation personnel, and the maintenance staff in carrying out assigned responsibilities.
DUTIES
Oversees and maintains the athletic facilities, playing fields, and equipment
  • Sets up & monitors the facilities for all physical education classes, intercollegiate athletic activities, county recreation programs, community services classes, and special College and community events.
  • Oversees the equipment area and dispensing of physical education, recreation, and intercollegiate athletic equipment.
  • Oversees the laundry room and does the laundry for physical education classes, intercollegiate athletic activities, and special events.
  • Oversees varsity and general locker rooms.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the athletic fields and other facilities in cooperation with college maintenance staff.
  • Coordinates facility procedures with the Washington County Recreation Department.
  • Performs minor/general maintenance tasks involving the use of general-purpose hand tools.
  • Coordinates athletic contests and tournaments including scoreboard operations and collecting gate receipts.
  • Drives participants to activities, events, and/or sports contests using College supplied vehicles.
  • Assist Athletic Department in roles associated with sports information as need presents and time permits.
  • Performs other related duties not specifically stated herein.
Coordinates large-scale special events and activities
  • Sets up and tears down for large scale rentals and special events.
  • On-site coordinator during athletic contests, special events and rentals.
  • Makes decisions in accordance with ARCC policy and procedure in the absence of immediate supervisor.
Coordinates student worker activities

Shares the responsibility of assigned student workers, and in cooperation with the Coordinator of ARCC & Athletics, evaluates student workers for retention purposes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate degree preferred and 2-3 years related experience some of which should have been in sports or recreation; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to plan, direct, and assign the work of others; ability to move athletic equipment and materials; ability to make decisions in accordance with established operating procedures; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with HCC faculty, coaches, students, county recreation staff, and the general public; ability to make arithmetical calculations; ability to use general purpose hand tools.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • C.P.R. certification
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
