Job summary

The Salvation Army in Cleveland is seeking a Cook to maintain high health and safety standards while preparing food and managing kitchen operations.

As part of the Adult Rehabilitation Center's mission, this role includes ensuring the kitchen is sanitized, managing inventory, and preparing meals for residents. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, kitchen experience, and preferably a ServSafe certification.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of kitchen operations and experience with food preparation for large groups.
• Ability to follow directions and lead a team.
• Certificate of completion of ServSafe or a government program/training for kitchen safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in the kitchen.
• Ensure the kitchen is adequately staffed at all times.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all food and supplies.
• Ensure that all menus are followed and food is properly prepared.
• Serve meals on time and manage food rotation.

The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. All our effort is focused on developing life skills and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Cook to prepare and cook food, uphold health and safety standards, and track inventory.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in the kitchen, dining room and related storage areas.
• Maintain a posted schedule to ensure the kitchen is adequately staffed at all times.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all food and supplies.
• Ensure that all menus are followed and food is properly prepared.
• Serve meals on time and rotate food with leftovers being used as quickly as possible.
• Check freezers and refrigerators daily.
• Ensure the security of the kitchen and stock.
• Assist with time cards for kitchen personnel.
• Assist in planning and determining food quantities as necessary.
