The Davey Tree Expert Company in Columbus, OH is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship beginning Spring-Summer 2027. Interns will work in the field with experienced Arborists and other professionals to develop practical skills in tree care, pruning, cabling, and plant health care.

This paid internship provides hands-on training and opportunities for career growth. HOURS: 40-50 hours per week, Monday–Friday with some Saturdays; SALARY: $22–$23 hourly.

Qualifications

• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline
• Driver’s license required. Commercial driver’s license a plus

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor while working with Arborists, Climbers, Plant Health Care Technicians and landscape professionals to deliver client service and maintain tree health and beauty.
• Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance as part of field work
• Assist with Tree & Landscape Installation and safe operation of equipment such as chainsaws and chippers
• Support Plant Health Care activities including deep root fertilization, soil care and integrated pest management
• Gain exposure to daily operations and business components of a residential tree care office
• Develop client service, sales, management and leadership skills through active participation

Job Duties

• Tree pruning, removing, cabling, bracing and maintenance
• Tree & Landscape Installation
• Safe operation of equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and other tools used in the field
• Plant Health Care, including deep root fertilization, soil care and integrated pest & disease management
• Exposure to the daily operations and business components that power a successful Residential Tree Care office
• Client service, sales, management, and leadership fundamentals
