Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company seeks an Arborist Trainee Intern for field-based work in Canton, OH. The program runs Spring–Summer 2027, offering hands-on learning alongside seasoned arborists and landscape professionals to develop practical skills and industry knowledge.

Earn while you learn with a 40–50 hour work week, hourly pay of $22–$23, and formal internship support. Opportunities for advancement and career development are highlighted throughout the program.

Qualifications

• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline.
• Driver’s license required; commercial license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor and work in the field with experienced arborists and other professionals to serve clients.
• Perform tree pruning, removing, cabling, bracing and maintenance.
• Operate equipment safely including chainsaws and chippers.
• Engage in Plant Health Care: deep root fertilization, soil care, pest and disease management.
• Gain exposure to daily operations and business aspects of Residential Tree Care.
• Develop client service, sales, management and leadership fundamentals.

WHAT WE WILL DO:

• Introduce career orientated students to exceptional opportunities in the green industry, providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging work environment for students to learn, develop, and employ life and job skills from Davey professionals.
• HOURS: 40-50 hours per week; Monday - Friday with some Saturdays
• SALARY: $22 -$ 23 hourly

Qualifications
