Job summary

NYC Department of Design and Construction seeks an Arborist Liaison to support the Landscape Architecture & Urban Design team in managing tree-related data and reporting. The role involves creating inventory reports, evaluating valuations, and aiding in mitigation planning with NYC Parks, including approval workflows and library maintenance.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in geology, engineering, earth sciences, environmental sciences, or closely related field.
• At least one course involving geologic field work or three months of satisfactory field experience.
• Must have Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in New York.

Responsibilities

• Create and evaluate Tree Inventory Reports and NYC Parks Tree Inventory Valuation Reports.
• Assist in formulating Tree Impact Mitigation Plans and oversee approvals with NYC Parks Central and Borough Forestry.
• Oversee the Tree Impact Mitigation details library and draft new details as needed.
• Ensure design drawings include tree information; collaborate with NYC Parks Natural Resources for project approvals.
• Develop and upkeep tree-related standards in agency guidelines; participate in preconstruction meetings.
• Support Construction Management staff with tree issues during construction; liaise on Tree Removal Permits.
• Conduct health assessments of trees with NYC Parks Forestry and prepare Tree Replacement estimates.
