Job summary

Brush Hog Tree Care, Inc. is seeking an Arborist Ground Operations Specialist to join our tree care crew in the San Francisco Bay Area. This mid-level, on-site role supports foremen, climbers, and crew leaders while gaining hands-on experience in pruning, rigging, removal, and site safety.

You will work with a crew to maintain equipment, manage work zones, and ensure public safety. A valid CA driver’s license and ability to commute to La Honda are required; prior tree care or horticulture

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform manual labor year-round in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Reliable transportation to the job site; commuting to La Honda, CA area.
• Live within a 45 minute commute of La Honda, CA (La Honda address: 8181 La Honda Rd).
• Preferred: prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience; degree in related field; English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Pruning trees.
• Rigging.
• Cabling and bracing.
• Removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, leaf blowers, chippers, tractor, aerial lifts.
• Implement work zone safety procedures.
• Assist Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on ground and aloft.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
• Traffic/pedestrian control when needed.
• Drive trucks with trailers and perform pre-operation safety checks.
• Support aerial workers and ground crew.
• Contribute to all aspects of tree care and removal.
• Keep job site safe, organized, and clean.

• Preferred: Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience
• Preferred: Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field
• Speaks/Reads English. Being bilingual is a plus.

Job Summary

As an Arborist Ground Operations Specialist, you'll join Brush Hog's tree care crew. This mid-level role offers hands‑on work in tree and shrub care for commercial and residential properties. You'll assist foremen, climbers, and fellers to manage the work site and interact with the public, all while reporting to the Crew Leaders, Supervisors and General Foreman and playing a vital role in the team.

Gaining on‑the‑job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including:

Responsibilities

• Pruning trees
• Rigging
• Cabling and bracing
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, leaf blowers, chippers, tractor, aerial lifts, etc.)
• Implementing work zone safety procedures
• Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
• Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
• Traffic and pedestrian control, and other relevant duties as operationally necessary
• Drive trucks with trailers; including daily safety inspection before operating
• Assist aerial workers and other around crew members
• In all aspects of tree care and removal
• Keep the job site safe & organized, drag & chip brush, rake & clean up the job site Able to work with and without direct supervision
