Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts is hiring an Arborist Climber Trainee to join a professional outdoor tree-care crew on residential and commercial properties. This entry-level role emphasizes on-the-job training, safety, and hands-on learning in arboriculture.

You will gain practical experience in tree care techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures while supporting experienced climbers and crew leaders. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles.
• Interest in outdoor work year-round in all weather conditions.
• Safety-conscious with a passion for nature and the outdoors.
• Willingness to learn and work on a multi-disciplinary team.
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience preferred but not required.
• Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture or related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Learn on-the-job to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including tree climbing, pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, and removal of hazardous trees.
• Identify trees and properly operate equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts).
• Implement work zone safety procedures and assist Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on ground and aloft.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
• Adhere to all safety rules and company safety policies.
