Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts in Lynchburg, VA is hiring a professional Arborist to join our team. You will perform ground, tree climbing, and aerial lift duties under the Crew Leader, conducting pruning, removals, cabling, and root work while ensuring safety and quality.

You will use hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts, and you will learn and apply tree care treatments with guidance from senior staff. Training and advancement are available in a safety‑conscious workplace.

Qualifications

• Passion for nature and the outdoors.
• At least one year of experience in tree care preferred.
• Valid driver’s license (Class B CDL preferred).
• Ability to work outdoors year‑round in all weather conditions.
• Valid state pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain after hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform ground, tree climbing, and aerial lift duties as directed by the Crew Leader.
• Safely execute arboriculture tasks: tree identification, risk assessments, pruning, removals, cabling/bracing, root collar excavations.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Perform tree/shrub care treatments using sprays and injections as prescribed.
• Learn and adhere to all safety rules and policies.

Responsibilities

As an Arborist, you will play an important role in:

• Performing ground, tree climbing, and aerial lift duties in support of specific job assignments, as directed by the Arborist Crew Leader
• Safely performing all aspects of arboriculture, including:
  • Tree identification
  • Tree risk assessments
  • Pruning
  • Removals
  • Cabling and bracing
  • Root collar excavations
  • Properly maintaining and operating tools and equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
• Performing tree and shrub care treatments using spray, tree injection, and soil injection tools as prescribed by the Arborist Representative
• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies

Qualifications

• At least one (1) year of experience in the tree care industry is preferred
• Valid driver's license (Class B CDL preferred)
• Ability to work outdoors year‑round in all weather conditions
• Valid state pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain following hire date – We will pay for the cost of the exam and help you prepare!
