Job summary

WSP, a leading global engineering consultancy, is seeking an Arboricultural Consultant to join a multidisciplinary team delivering arboricultural input across development, infrastructure, transport and public-sector projects. You will own project tasks, produce clear reports and build strong client relationships.

With a Level 3 Arboriculture qualification and strong writing skills, you will contribute to NSIPs, coordinate information with GIS/CAD colleagues, and support health and safety on

Qualifications

• Experience within arboricultural consultancy or similar environment.
• Level 3 qualification in Arboriculture or higher.
• Knowledge of BS5837:2012, tree protection principles, UK planning system.
• Strong writing and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
• Commitment to health, safety and safe site-working practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan and undertake BS5837 surveys, tree condition assessments and desk-based studies.
• Produce clear, concise and well-structured technical reports, including Tree Survey Reports, Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA) and Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS).
• Support senior colleagues in delivering arboricultural inputs to NSIPs.
• Provide construction-stage arboricultural advice and support.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, GIS and CAD specialists, clients and stakeholders.
• Manage and coordinate project information efficiently and accurately.
• Identify project risks, environmental constraints, programme challenges and opportunities for improved delivery.
• Contribute to a positive client experience through high-quality technical work and professional communication.

What You\'ll Be Doing

As an Arboricultural Consultant, you\'ll play an important role in the delivery of arboricultural services across a broad range of projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and undertaking BS5837 surveys, tree condition assessments and supporting desk-based studies.
• Producing clear, concise and well-structured technical reports, including:
• Tree Survey Reports
• Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA)
• Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS)
• Supporting senior colleagues in the delivery of arboricultural inputs to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
• Providing construction-stage arboricultural advice and support.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams, GIS and CAD specialists, clients and key stakeholders.

Essential

What We\'re Looking For

• Experience within arboricultural consultancy, local authority tree officer roles or a similar arboricultural environment.
• Level 3 qualification in Arboriculture or higher.
• Sound working knowledge of:
• BS5837:2012
• Tree protection principles
• The UK planning system and development process
• Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively across multiple projects.
• A strong commitment to health, safety and safe site-working practices.

Desirable

Level 4 qualification, degree or related diploma.

• Professional membership status such as:
• TechArborA
• MArborA
• MICFor
• Or working towards chartered/professional accreditation
• Experience using CAD, GIS and digital data capture tools.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary development and infrastructure projects.
• Tree Risk Assessment qualifications.
• Professional Tree Inspection (PTI) certification.
• Arboricultural Clerk of Works experience.
• Construction site experience.
