Job summary

Northwell is seeking a Billing Clerk to support hospital billing and collections. You will complete UBF forms, process itemized bills, post charges and adjustments, and refer accounts for collection.

The role requires a high school diploma and knowledge of billing procedures; familiarity with medical terminology and CPT/ ICD-9 coding is preferred. Strong data entry and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of billing or credit/collection procedures.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9 coding, CPT codes and automated systems, preferred.
• Ability to input data to computerized system.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform billing and collection duties including completing UBF and billing forms.
• Process itemized bills and reconcile batches.
• Input charges, payments and adjustments to computerized system or posts to manual records.
• Pursue payment with third-party carriers and patients; prepares correspondence and bills.
• Set up financial agreements with patients; verify insurance and other data with third-party carriers.
• Refer accounts for collection; correct carrier codes and demographics as needed.
• Maintain daily, weekly and monthly records of fees collected.
• May perform cashier functions.
