Job summary

Southwest Neuro in Amarillo, TX is seeking an AR Specialist to cross-train in the Central Billing Office with a primary role and as backup across the department. You will read patient charts to determine correct codes and modifiers, conduct audits, and balance payments daily.

Responsibilities include checking claim rejections, resolving denials, posting payments, generating statements, and contacting patients for payment arrangements. A strong customer service mindset and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills are a must.
• Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10 and HCFA terminologies are highly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret an insurance explanation of benefits (EOB).
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills are required.
• Highly analytical with strong problem solving and research skills.
• Excellent math, verbal and communication skills.
• Computer proficiency is highly preferred.
• Must be a team player and backup to other team members as needed.

Responsibilities

• Reading, analyzing, and interpreting patient charts to determine correct codes and modifiers.
• Conducting audits and coding reviews to ensure accurate documentation.
• Checking claim rejections daily and correcting and resubmitting as necessary.
• Identify and resolve outstanding claim processing issues and communicate with providers.
• Daily posting and balancing of insurance and patient payments via multiple methods.
• Generating patient statements monthly and making courtesy calls for balances.
• Answer calls from patients regarding balances and arrange payments per policy.
• Research returned mail to locate updated addresses and collect balances.
• Prepare non-collectable accounts for transfer to outside collection agencies.
• Assist in other duties as assigned.
