Job summary

Phillips Academy in Andover seeks a Water Polo Coach for a seasonal program from October to November 2026 and April to May 2027. The incumbent will develop a safe, engaging environment, teach core skills, and foster participation from beginner to competitive levels.

Responsibilities include leading practices, ensuring safety, and collaborating with the Aquatics Director to grow a structured learn-to-play pathway feeding into a competitive team.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Lead all lessons, practices, and dryland training sessions.
• Ensure proper use of pool space, adherence to pool rules, and implementation of appropriate dryland drills.
• Enforce all safety protocols, including active supervision and reporting of incidents or concerns.
• Work collaboratively with the Aquatics Director to build and grow a structured learn-to-play program that feeds into a competitive team.
• Maintain and oversee equipment to ensure safety and proper working condition.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, families, and aquatics staff.
• Attend all required staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Maintain accurate records, attendance, and program data.
• Provide advance notice if unable to work scheduled shifts and coordinate approved coverage.
• Arrive on time and prepared for all scheduled sessions.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Water Polo Coach, from October through November 2026 & April through May 2027, is responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive water polo program that fosters a safe, positive, and engaging environment. This role focuses on teaching proper skills and techniques, building confidence, and growing participation from beginner to competitive levels.

SCHEDULE: Thursday 6:00-7:30pm & Saturday 9:00-12:00pm

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be 21 years of age

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on the pool deck for extended periods
• Ability to lift or assist participants when needed
• Exposure to pool chemicals and varying temperatures
