Job summary

Life Time Inc. in Middletown, New Jersey is seeking an Aquatics Swim Instructor to help both adults and children improve their swimming and to teach essential life skills to our youngest members. You will evaluate swimming ability to establish the correct swim level and maintain the cleanliness and order of our Aquatics Facilities.

The role requires teaching, strong guest service, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while promoting Life Time programs and services.

Qualifications

• Working towards a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to swim 25 yards/meters without stopping.
• Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Pass Life Time courses upon hire.
• StarGuard Elite Lifeguard, BLS CPR, and First Aid certifications preferred or required.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons and Aquatics events
• Responds to member questions, comments, and concerns
• Provides a safe, clean and organized pool area
• Promotes and sells all Aquatics programs and services

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education

• Working towards a High School Diploma or GED

Years of Experience

• Successfully complete and pass all Life Time courses upon hire
• Ability to work in a stationery position and move about the club for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to communicate and exchange information with guests who have inquiries about Life Time products and services
• Ability to swim 25 yards/meters without stopping
• Ability to routinely and repetitively bend to lift 20 lbs or less and occasionally bend to lift more than 20lbs

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations

• StarGuard Elite Lifeguard, BLS CPR, and First Aid Certified (or bridge to StarGuard when current certification expires or within 1st year, whichever is first). For Canada, Lifesaving Society Lifeguard certification and Standard FA with CPR C.

Preferred Qualifications

• Swim lesson instruction or coaching experience

Pay

This is an hourly position with wages starting at $16.50 and pays up to $19.50, based on experience and qualifications.
