Job summary

Life Time Inc. in California is seeking an Aquatics Swim Instructor to help adults and children improve their swimming and life skills.

You will evaluate swimming ability to establish the correct swim level and maintain the cleanliness and order of Aquatics Facilities. You will instruct swim lessons and Aquatics events, respond to member questions, and promote Life Time's programs and services while ensuring a safe, welcoming pool environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Working toward a High School Diploma or GED.
• Pass Life Time courses upon hire and maintain eligibility.
• Ability to swim 25 yards without stopping.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and move about the club.
• Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications required or bridge to StarGuard if expiring.

Job description

Position Summary

As an Aquatics Swim Instructor, you will work in a fast‑paced environment. You will help adults and children improve their swimming, teach life skills to young members, evaluate swimming ability to establish the correct swim level, and maintain the cleanliness and order of Aquatics Facilities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons and Aquatics events
• Responds to member questions, comments, and concerns
• Provides a safe, clean and organized pool area
• Promotes and sells all Aquatics programs and services

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education:

• Working toward a High School Diploma or GED

Years of Experience:

• Successfully complete and pass all Life Time courses upon hire
• Ability to work in a stationary position and move about the club for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to communicate and exchange information with guests who have inquiries about Life Time products and services
• Ability to swim 25 yards/meters without stopping
• Ability to routinely and repetitively bend to lift 20 lbs or less and occasionally bend to lift more than 20 lb

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:

• StarGuard Elite Lifeguard, BLS CPR, and First Aid Certified (or bridge to StarGuard when current certification expires or within 1st year, whichever is first). For Canada, Lifesaving Society Lifeguard certification and Standard FA with CPR C.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Swim lesson instruction or coaching experience

Pay

This is an hourly position with wages starting at $17.50 and pays up to $20.50, based on experience and qualifications.
