Job summary

Maryland Heights Parks & Recreation is seeking an Aquatic Supervisor to oversee the Community Center indoor pool and the Aquaport outdoor facility. The role plans, schedules, and supervises aquatics programs, swim lessons, activities and events to meet community needs.

The supervisor will lead pool staff, manage certifications, ensure proper pool operations, and coordinate publications. May perform lifeguard duties when required and respond to emergencies with CPR and first aid.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and supervise recreation programs and events in aquatics for indoor and outdoor facilities.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule and evaluate aquatic personnel at both facilities.
• Manage payroll, hiring processes, staff discipline/incentives, and evaluation records for aquatic staff.
• Provide leadership and coaching for aquatic staff, including managers, lifeguards, and front desk personnel.
• Train staff with in-services and orientations, and assist in maintenance of pools and Aquaport facilities.
• Respond to patron inquiries and complaints professionally; document incidents and follow up actions.
• Plan and supervise additional aquatic programs based on community needs; manage budget tracking and vendor communication.
• Prepare and disseminate all recreation publications for Aquatics; may act as lifeguard or swim instructor as needed.
• Respond to aquatic emergencies with first aid, CPR, and rescue per procedures; perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Aquatic Supervisor manages the indoor pool at the Community Center and the outdoor facility at Aquaport. This position plans, schedules, organizes, and supervises the running of aquatics programs, swim lessons, activities, and special events to meet the leisure needs of the community. The Aquatic Supervisor also supervises all pool staff, manages all staff certifications, and maintains proper pool operations and mechanical systems.

• Assists with proper maintenance of the Indoor Pool and Aquaport.
• Responds to patron inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
• Handles grievances and/or discipline cases involving pool patrons and staff. Reports serious cases to the Recreation Facilities Superintendent.
• Plans, schedules, organizes, implements, and supervises other aquatic programs and activities based on the needs of the community.
• Responsible for budget tracking, supply ordering, and vendor communication.
• Responsible for preparing, coordinating, and disseminating all recreation publications, including seasonal brochures and flyers for Aquatics.
• May be required to act in a lifeguard or swim instructor capacity at times as needed.
