Job summary

YMCA OF BEAVER COUNTY 9 seeks a part-time lifeguard to supervise the pool area and participants, ensuring safe conditions at all times. The role requires maintaining proper rescue-ready gear and staying attentive to the pool environment.

Job Overview

Qualifications

A minimum age of 15 years; certifications for Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, Oxygen and First Aid.

Basic Function

Responsible for the safety of aquatic participants by observing the pool and program participants to assure that safe conditions exist.

Specific Responsibilities

• At least one lifeguard (holding current YMCA or Red Cross certification) will be on duty at all times when the pool or pool area is in use.
• All lifeguards on duty will be "rescue ready", including proper attire, identifiable gear, a rescue tube with strap, a resuscitation mask, protective gloves, a whistle, and being positioned at the pool's edge, standing or seated on an elevated guard stand, and actively scanning their area within 10 seconds.
• Observe participants in the pool and the pool area.
• Maintain the pool and ensure the pool area is safe and clean.
• Maintain professional conduct and a neat appearance consistent with the Aquatic Dress Policy.
• Maintain an alert and observant behavior at all times.
• Be aware of the YMCA programs and schedules and willingly share information with participants.
• Promote the YMCA mission.
• Suggest improvements.
• Attend trainings and meetings when scheduled.
• Be a positive example of the YMCA to members and participants.
• Perform all other functions as assigned, relative to the welfare of the association.
