Job summary

Fairbanks North Star Borough is seeking a dedicated lifeguard to ensure the safety of spectators, participants, and staff in aquatic environments. The role involves enforcing rules, performing lifesaving and first aid when needed, and assisting with pool and locker room cleanliness.

You will also provide office support, handle cash and POS transactions, and assist with instructional programs for a broad community audience. Night and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old at time of employment.
• Certification in Standard First Aid, Lifeguarding, and CPR-PR as recognized by the American Red Cross (or equivalent) at hire.
• Must obtain Water Safety Instructor Certification within 180 days of hire and maintain thereafter.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends.
• Must demonstrate lifesaving and first aid skills required by the position.
• Must pass American Red Cross Swim Proficiency Test with specified drills.

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety rules in a polite but consistent manner.
• Perform lifesaving and first aid procedures as appropriate.
• Provide routine cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance in pool and locker room areas.
• Provide office support including cash handling, making change, and operating a credit card machine.
• Operate a front desk register and POS to check in patrons, sell passes, and maintain user tallies.
• Present aquatic instructional programs using prepared lesson plans.
