Job summary

Power Wellness is seeking an Aquatic Manager at Chelsea Wellness Center in Chelsea, Michigan. This full-time role leads the aquatic team, oversees swim lessons, programs, and safety, and ensures a welcoming, high-service environment for members.

You will manage scheduling, training, performance reviews, and cross-department coordination while maintaining facilities and equipment to the highest standards and supporting community health initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to all aquatic staff.
  • Oversee swim lessons and all aquatic programs and schedules.
  • Ensure pool and surrounding areas are clean, safe, and well maintained.
  • Plan staff trainings and certifications for instructors.
  • Hire and train Aquatic Department staff and oversee scheduling.
  • Maintain safety and emergency procedures and engage with EMS as needed.
  • Lead day-to-day operations across departments and support staff development.

Our facility is managed by Power Wellness Management, a company that specializes in managing state-of-the-art medically integrated health and fitness centers. Power Wellness is a medical fitness industry pioneer who improves the lives of clients with a unique and customized approach to medical fitness center development and management. Their turnkey method takes away the stress of the development and management process allowing clients to focus on other areas of their business.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. 1. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in providing leadership and supervision to all aquatic staff.
  2. 2. Ensure aquatic programming growth, and contribute to the marketing efforts of the center and aquatics programs both within the center and the community.
  3. 3. Respond to member feedback with a high level of professionalism, demonstrate and provide customer service standards for all associates, and intervene with service recovery if conflicts and/or issues occur.
  4. 4. Oversee swim lessons and all aquatic programs, and provide a schedule of pool activities for members.
  5. 5. Ensure that pool’s and surrounding areas are clean, safe and well maintained.
  6. 6. Ensure that the pool, exercise equipment and emergency equipment is maintained and organized.
  7. 7. Plan in-service workshops and certifications for instructors to support the maintenance of CEC’s required to keep certifications current.
  8. 8. Oversee the schedule and substitution of staff as needed to ensure that all programs are appropriately covered.
  9. 9. Provide leadership and center oversight for day-to-day operations across all departments as it relates to member, employee or facility-related issues that might arise.
  10. 10. Encourage employee professional growth through training, supervision, empowerment, continuous performance management and feedback.
  11. 11. Provide regular feedback, write and conduct interim and annual performance reviews.
  12. 12. Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  13. 13. Participate in management meetings and all-team meetings.
  14. 14. Assist with department work schedules and time cards.
  15. 15. Responsible for hiring and training all Aquatic Department associates.
  16. 16. Assist with development of department operating and capital budgets annually.
  17. 17. Work Manager on Duty shifts as assigned.
  18. 18. Maintain friendly, well trained and customer service oriented staff, and inter-department relationships.
  19. 19. Be proficient in all core business software as it relates to job duties and responsibilities.
  20. 20. Work towards meeting departmental and organizational goals.
  21. 21. The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to center hours, work schedules and scheduling appointments for prospects and members.
  22. 22. Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties.
  23. 23. Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures including the use of facility paging system and confidence in calling and communicating with EMS.
  24. 24. Participate in Company's HIPAA and related training.
  25. 25. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during interactions and work related relationships with all persons at the center including but not limited to members, guests and employees as provided in the Employee Handbook at the time of hire.
  26. 26. Demonstrate Power Wellness Core Values & Beliefs.
  27. 27. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college required.
  • Bachelor's degree from a 4 year college or university in a health-related, recreation management, or similar field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience and/or training required.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a lifeguard preferred.
  • CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness)
  • Current Lifeguard certification from a nationally recognized organization required, if required by state law. Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred. Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred.
  • Must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills, and the ability to work with members in a positive, service based manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain a controlled and professional demeanor with a high level of organizational skills and efficiency.
  • Proficient computer skills.
