British Swim School is seeking an Aquatics Manager for the West Portland Suburbs, overseeing day-to-day aquatic operations, lesson quality, and customer service across multiple pool locations. The role requires 28–32 hours per week and involves enforcing brand standards, managing instructors, and handling parent communication.

The position emphasizes leading a safety-focused team, ensuring high-quality lessons, and stepping in to teach when necessary.

The Position

The Aquatics Manager is a key leadership role requiring a mandatory commitment of 28 to 32 hours per week. This position oversees day-to-day aquatic operations, lesson quality, and customer service across our West Portland Suburbs territory. Key priorities include enforcing brand and safety standards, managing and training instructors, handling parent communication, tracking certifications, and step-in teaching when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Management: Interview, hire, onboard, train, and schedule swim instructors.
• Quality & Safety: Ensure all lessons follow the British Swim School curriculum and safety standards.
• In-Water Instruction: Teach swim lessons using positive reinforcement and step in for shift coverage as needed.
• Customer & Partner Relations: Maintain strong relationships with parents, address deck incidents, and liaise with host pool facilities.
• Compliance: Track instructor certifications and support ongoing staff skill development.

Minimum Qualifications

• Availability: Must be able to commit to a minimum of 28 to 32 hours per week across our scheduled pool operational hours (including weekday evenings and weekends).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong customer service, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong swimming abilities and comfort in and around the water.
• Self-starter personality with leadership potential.
• Willingness to complete all required British Swim School aquatics training and maintain certifications.
• Reliable transportation to travel between pool locations within Portland Metropolitan Area.

Preferred Qualifications(not Mandatory)

• Prior managerial or leadership experience.
• Experience working with children or in youth athletics.
• Previous experience as a Swim Instructor.
• Possessing a current Lifeguard Certification (preferred, but can be obtained during paid training).

24 Hour Tanasbourne (1265 NW Waterhouse Ave, Beaverton, OR 97006) location:

Thursdays & Fridays: 3 PM - 8:30 PM

Saturdays & Sundays: 9 AM - 2:45 PM

Aloft Hillsboro-Beaverton (1705 NE Amberglen Pkwy, Hillsboro, OR 97006) location:

Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 3 PM - 8:30 PM

24 Hours Hillsboro (6095 SE Tualatin Valley Hwy, Hillsboro, OR 97123) location:

Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays: 3 PM - 8:30 PM

Sundays: 9 AM - 2:45 PM

Compensation: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour

It's helpful if you have experience with children or in a child-focused job, but it's not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.
