General Function

The Lifeguard Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety of all aquatic participants, maintaining a safe pool environment, providing lifeguard and safety training, and assisting with scheduling and managing lifeguards. They will also support the aquatic department administratively under the guidance of the Aquatic Director.

Education/Experience/Certifications
  • 1-2 years of experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, LGI, or coordinator preferred but not required
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard license, YMCA Swim Instructor, CPR-Pro, AED, Emergency O2, and First Aid certifications required
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as head lifeguard and lead instructor, guarding and teaching at least 25 hours per week
  • Dedicate approximately 15 hours weekly to administrative tasks such as scheduling, communication, and record-keeping
  • Assist the Aquatic Director with scheduling, employee engagement, facility communications, and reporting
  • Monitor daily pool operations to comply with all safety regulations and ADA guidelines
  • Maintain all Red Cross and YMCA standards, ensuring documentation is current and accessible
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Abilities & Skills
  • Ability to detect distress signals in water and around the pool area
  • Physical ability to meet strength and lifting requirements
