Job summary

Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, MD is seeking energetic Lifeguards to join our aquatics team. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and teamwork, with duties spanning surveillance, rule enforcement, and pool area maintenance.

Candidates should hold current Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR certifications; experience is a plus but not required as certification courses are available. Outdoor, seasonally demanding work with Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day availability.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard Certification: Current Lifeguard and First Aid/AED certification required. Upload your Lifeguard Certification.
• Customer Service Skills: Proven history of excellent customer service and effective communication.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stay alert for extended periods, swim, and perform lifesaving techniques when necessary.
• Work Environment: Ability to work in outdoor conditions with exposure to various weather elements.
• Punctuality and Responsibility: Dependable, punctual, and able to multitask; availability on key holidays.
• Pool Operator Certificate (Preferred): Having a Pool Operator Certificate is a plus.
• Experience: Prior lifeguarding experience is a plus but not required; certification courses available.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area and participants to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Observe and enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment.
• Respond to member inquiries, address concerns, and assist during pool use.
• Maintain cleanliness of pool area, restrooms, and surrounding areas; ensure pool chemistry is up to standard.
• Respond quickly to emergencies using lifeguard training to administer first aid and CPR.
• Maintain and inspect pool equipment to ensure safety and operation.
• Work collaboratively with lifeguards and staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Perform opening and closing duties and prepare for operation.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by Pool Manager or Assistant Pool Manager

The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, effective communication abilities, and a strong commitment to working as part of a team.

Please review the following job duties:

• Ensure Safety: Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area and participants to prevent accidents and injuries, always prioritizing patron safety.


• Enforce Pool Rules: Observe and enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests.


• Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service by responding to member inquiries, addressing concerns, and assisting with any needs that arise during pool use.


• Facility Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of the pool area, restrooms, and surrounding areas. Ensure the filtration system is functioning properly, and that pool chemistry is up to standard.


• Emergency Response: Respond quickly to all emergency situations, utilizing Red Cross Lifeguard training to administer first aid, CPR, and other emergency procedures.


• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and inspect pool equipment to ensure it is safe, clean, and operational.


• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other lifeguards and staff members to ensure efficient pool operations and a positive member experience.


• Facility Opening/Closing: Perform opening and closing duties for the facility, including necessary cleaning and preparation for operation.


• Other Duties: Complete other tasks as assigned by the Pool Manager or Assistant Pool Manager

Requirements
