Job summary

The City of Norfolk, VA is seeking a Division Head of Aquatics to provide leadership and oversight for staffing, citywide programming, and large facility operations. You will supervise staff, develop policies, and manage the division budget within city policy.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Recreation and Leisure Services, Sports Management or related field.
• 2-3 years demonstrated work experience managing teams in one or more areas of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff by scheduling and coordinating work assignments, training, developing, conducting performance evaluations, and providing information as needed.
• Develop policies and procedures to reflect core service areas and best use of allocated funds.
• Prepares and administers division budget within city policy and standards of quality.
• Perform administrative duties by approving and signing documents, responding to inquiries, drafting contracts, and composing correspondence.
• Coordinate work and develop plans by attending meetings with personnel, contractors, and civic associations.
• Develop annual budget, monitor expenditures, and approve purchases; maintain reports.
• Conduct research to stay current on programming and operations.
• Conduct ongoing evaluations of programs, services, and employees.
