Job summary

Metuchen-Edison YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director in Metuchen, NJ. You will lead pool operations, supervise lifeguards and maintenance staff, and ensure adherence to safety guidelines and aquatic policies.

You will coordinate staff, manage certifications, and implement the Aquatic Safety Plan while collaborating with the Senior Aquatic Director to maintain a safe swimming environment for members.

Qualifications

• Previous pool management/supervisory experience required.
• First-Aid, CRP/AED required (can provide training).

Responsibilities

• Oversee opening and preparation of the summer pool environment.
• Supervise lifeguard staff, gate staff, maintenance staff and grounds crew; schedule coverage.
• Ensure facility meets bathing code and safety standards; manage safety equipment and first aid supplies.
• Develop and implement Aquatic Safety Plan with Senior Aquatic Director.
• Maintain current staff certifications and review documentation.
• Schedule drills and in-services per Aquatic Safety Plan; track attendance and results.
• Foster a safe, welcoming environment and enforce rules.
• Work with lifeguards to ensure proper coverage and zone scanning.
• Assist with planning outside pool use (camps, childcare, rentals).
• Prepare reports and attend mandatory meetings.
