Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead all aquatics operations at an assigned center, including programming, safety, staffing, and member satisfaction. This role oversees swim instructors, lifeguards, and front-line aquatics staff while fostering a culture of safety and service.

We value candidates who can develop people, elevate programs, and build strong relationships with members and the community, with a focus on inclusive leadership and data-driven program improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Business Administration, Sports Management, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience in aquatics, recreation, youth development, or a related field.
• Experience supervising and developing teams and managing program operations.
• Current certifications in BLS (CPR‑PRO), First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguarding, and Swim Instruction; Lifeguard Instructor/Swim Instructor certifications preferred.
• Must obtain CPO certification within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead all direct reports and ensure alignment with people practices.
• Spearhead creation and rollout of engaging aquatics programs addressing community needs.
• Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing aquatics team.
• Oversee budget, payroll, safety audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage scheduling, registrations, and program management software.
• Engage with members and community to enhance experience and retention.
