Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead branch aquatics programs and drive exceptional member service. You will oversee daily operations, safety, and program development, while guiding staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality swim lessons and water fitness with a focus on community impact and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• Experience in fitness, retail, recreation management, or hospitality.
• Experience supervising and managing preferred.
• Experience delivering high-end member service and resolving member concerns.
• Proven leadership with passion for member service excellence.
• Upon hire, pursue American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and YMCA swim lesson instructor certification.

What is needed for this job as our Aquatics Director:

• Bachelor’s Graduate or Equivalent

• Experiencein fitness, retail,recreation managementor hospitality industries

• Experiencesupervising and managing preferred

• Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns

• Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence

• Upon hire, you’ll be required to pursue American Red Cross Lifeguard certification as well as YMCA swim lesson instructor certification

The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Aquatics Director:

• Understand overall branch revenue and program goals, plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliverdepartmentgoals, membership goals and member engagement

• Champion a culture where teams love to work, and members love to visit; recognize member-centered behaviours andreward outstanding performance

• Creates and sustains an environment that values all people for their unique talents. Takes an active role in promoting and leveraging practices that support diversity, inclusion, global engagement, and cultural competence

• Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, and weekends)

• Ensure the swimming facility is meeting or exceeding the Aquatic Safety Standards

• Facilitate monthly in-service meetings that include skill review.

• Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool. Coordinate breaks and rotate staff.Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service

• Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness, that meet the community's needs

• Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising the pool area. Ensure no distraction or interference with the ability to hear or see signs of distress
