Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an Aquatic Director to oversee all pool operations, driving safety, program quality, and member experience. You will lead a diverse team, ensure safety standards, and support community health initiatives while building a culture of service excellence.

You will manage staffing, schedules, and monthly in-service meetings, develop aquatics programs, and champion inclusive practices that engage members and staff across branches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent credential.
• 2+ years managing 50+ team members.
• 2+ years experience managing P&L/revenue budgets.
• Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns.
• Track record of success in a performance driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Understand overall branch revenue and program goals; plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department goals and member engagement.
• Champion a culture where teams love to work and members love to visit; recognize and reward outstanding performance.
• Promote diversity, inclusion, global engagement and cultural competence across the branch.
• Work schedules including early morning, evening, and weekends to meet guest and business needs.
• Ensure the swimming facility meets or exceeds Aquatic Safety Standards.
• Facilitate monthly in-service meetings and skill reviews.
• Supervise pool staff; coordinate breaks and ensure staffing and program quality.
• Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness for the community.
• Maintain safety and monitor distress signs to prevent injuries in the pool area.

What is needed for this job

• Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns

• Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, and weekends).
• Ensure the swimming facility is meeting or exceeding the Aquatic Safety Standards.
• Facilitate monthly in-service meetings that include skill review.
• Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool. Coordinate breaks and rotate staff. Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service.
• Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness, that meet the community's needs.
• Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising the pool area. Ensure no distraction or interference with the ability to hear or see signs of distress.
