Job summary

Kamehameha Schools is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator for the Hawaii Campus. Aquatics Coordinator

A regular full‑time position at Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus.

Job Summary: Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the campus aquatic center; planning, developing, implementing and supervising the Aquatic Program, and ensuring safety and health requirements are met.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist the Athletic program in coordinating aquatic sports, develop action plans for all competition levels, and oversee the pool and aquatic program budget.
  • Manage the daily pool schedule, supervise lifeguards and swimming instructors, and ensure adherence to safety and sanitary rules.
  • Plan and supervise the Aquatic Program, water safety/lifeguard personnel, guaranteeing staff certification and establishing preventative safety measures.
  • Teach swim classes and perform lifeguarding duties.
  • Oversee campus and other KS programs’ off‑campus water activities, including scheduling, staffing, safety training, and compliance with state and county regulations.
  • Maintain pool, deck, restrooms, offices, and mechanical rooms; manage pool chemistry and preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience as a pool manager or facility‑supervising lifeguard, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Lifeguard/WSI certification.
  • Certified Pool Operator certificate or ability to obtain one within the first year of employment.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Experience maintaining a pool facility.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, special events, and split shifts.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent sitting, performing desk‑based computer tasks, with light or fine manipulation, talking or hearing.
  • Occasional standing, walking, writing by hand, lifting or carrying objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, or climbing; rarely reaching or working above shoulder height.
Working Conditions
  • Travel to various locations, including neighboring islands.
  • Work in office or school environments and may involve non‑standard workplaces.
  • Typically Monday through Friday during normal business hours, with evenings and weekends often required.
