Job summary

Southwest Allen County Schools is seeking a Lead Lifeguard at the Natatorium in Fort Wayne. The position is part-time (approximately 20-25 hours weekly) across a 12-month period, with flexible hours throughout the day and eligibility for modified benefits.

The role focuses on safeguarding users, emergency response, and occasional light cleaning. Ideal candidates will hold ARC Lifeguard, CPR Pro, First Aid and AED certifications and have experience with water safety and rescue equipment.

Qualifications

  • Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR Pro, First Aid and AED Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of aquatic facility users as Lead Lifeguard.
  • Perform light cleaning of lifeguard office, laundry room, bleacher area and pool storage.
  • Help lead in-services and support employee recognition program.

Benefits

This is a part time, 12 month position. Approximately 20-25 hours, based on the needs of the Natatorium, must be flexible throughout the day. This position is eligible for modified benefits:

Purpose

As the Lead Lifeguard, ensure the safety of the aquatic facility users. The lifeguard must have the knowledge and ability to rescue an individual in danger and also possess the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies, injuries and accidents in the aquatic facility. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, light cleaning (lifeguard office, laundry room, bleacher area, pool storage room, other as deemed necessary), help lead in-services and help with employee recognition program.

Qualifications
  • Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR Pro, First Aid and AED Certification.
  • Experience in facility procedures, rules, regulations, swimming and water rescue, water safety and rescue equipment usage preferred.
  • Must maintain the ability to perform skills required to pass the certifications.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff and the general public, thus good oral and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work with individuals of all ages.
