This summer, we are looking for a dynamic Aquatics Director to oversee the different areas of our aquatics department. An Aquatics Director is responsible for giving extra support to Aquatics Specialists/Lifeguards, acting as a role model, ensuring their specialty areas are ready and safe for use, and ensuring that both themselves and the other Aquatics Specialists carry out their duties in a safe way that is in line with their training.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the upkeep, safety, and running of program areas and their on-site supplies: The Pool Area and Waterfront/Dock Area.
  • Responsible for lifeguarding/scheduling lifeguards for both pool and open water locations. Create daily schedules for aquatics staff, including on and off-duty times.
  • Must possess strong swimming skills and pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training & Certification course.
  • Oversee and conduct swim tests of every person on-site who plans to swim at any point during their time at Camp.
  • Responsible for daily cleaning and weekly updates of all water locations. Assist and coordinate in the setting up and taking down of aquatics areas and activities.
  • Assist in providing aquatics staff training, both pre-camp and as needed throughout the summer.
  • Know of and enforce all aquatics policies and procedures.
  • Identify and prevent hazards occurring in aquatic areas.
  • Operating and managing all aquatics areas/activities.
  • Be a resource of knowledge about all aquatic areas/activities for all aquatics staff.
  • Instruct aquatics activities in a manner that ensures the safe use of equipment, checks for understanding, and appeals to multiple learning styles.
  • Conduct daily checks of all aquatics areas and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
  • Evaluate the aquatic abilities of participants in aquatics activities, predict where challenges might occur, and help Aquatics Specialists and Bunk Counselors act accordingly.
  • Report any safety concerns or dangerous occurrences to the Camp Director.
  • Be able to step outside your comfort zone. The more you buy into Camp's culture, the more fun you and all campers will have together!
Compensation

$2100/season
