Job summary

Wilbur Wright College is seeking a Manager of Aquatic Programs to oversee the Aquatic Center operations and staff, ensuring a safe, well-maintained facility aligned with the college’s instructional and wellness goals.

The role requires supervising lifeguards and instructors, coordinating programming, maintaining certifications and safety protocols, and collaborating with risk management. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Administration or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in aquatics, recreation management, or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification including First Aid, Water Safety Instruction, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in an aquatic program is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of lifeguard safety practices, water safety instruction, and emergency response procedures.
  • Knowledge of pool mechanical systems, water chemistry, and aquatic facility operations.
  • Knowledge of public health regulations, risk management, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of the Aquatic Center and ensures safety of pool patrons.
  • Conducts safety and maintenance inspections of pool and equipment with Engineering.
  • Plans and implements aquatic programs, including swimming lessons.
  • Supervises Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Aquatic Center staff.
  • Manages timekeeping, staff schedules, and training activities.
  • Participates in recruitment, hiring, and performance management of staff.
  • Ensures certifications are current and records maintained.
  • Monitors water quality and regulatory certification activities.
  • Prepares reports and data for management; supports safety protocols with Risk Management.
  • Compiles incident and rescue reports; maintains safety records.
  • Maintains inventory of safety equipment; conducts inspections.
  • Assists in annual aquatics center budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Upholds CCC customer service excellence standards.
