Job summary

The City of Charlottesville is hiring an Aquatic Maintenance Specialist to maintain city pools and aquatic facilities. The role includes daily maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and water quality issues, and implementing solutions under the supervision of an Aquatic Maintenance Supervisor.

Candidates may qualify with a high school diploma or GED plus at least 2 years of related experience, or 4 years of relevant work; certifications such as Certified Pool Operator preferred within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and at least 2 years of experience in aquatics maintenance, plumbing, or general building maintenance.
• Or at least 4 years of experience in aquatics maintenance, plumbing, or general building maintenance.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above.
• Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• The Aquatic Maintenance Specialist performs daily maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical and water quality issues at City Aquatics facilities.
• Work is performed under the general supervision of an Aquatic Maintenance Supervisor and requires attention to safety and quality standards.
