Join to apply for the Aquatic Coordinator role at Landis Communities

Supports exercise programs and coordinates wellness-related educational programming at Landis Homes. Works with groups and individuals in Healthcare, Personal Care, and Residential Living by developing fitness and educational programs. Oversees the aquatics program and may supervise Aquatic Specialist(s) and Aquatic Assistant(s). Serves as lifeguard, shallow water attendant, and aquatics instructor at the Landis Homes pool.

Position Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with Wellness Manager, Aquatic Specialist, and Aquatic Assistants to develop an aquatic program promoting the physical, social, and psychological benefits of exercise.
  2. Uphold the FUN philosophy (Safe, Fun, Purposeful) to foster a wellness culture at Landis Homes, including planning engaging wellness initiatives.
  3. Develop and manage the Landis Homes Swim Lessons program, including hiring and supervising contracted instructors.
  4. Supervise the aquatic team, including scheduling, certification monitoring, and assisting with hiring and onboarding.
  5. Manage daily pool operations, serve as primary contact for outside technicians, and oversee chemical testing and water quality maintenance in compliance with regulations.
  6. Coordinate with Facilities for major repairs or water replacements, and serve as on-call emergency contact outside regular hours.
  7. Assist in developing policies, procedures, forms, and documentation for aquatics programming.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with budget preparation and tracking payments for fee-based programs.
  • Implement and promote group exercise classes, conduct orientations, and train staff in pool operations and safety.
  • Participate in continuing education, collaborate with healthcare teams, and support special events and educational programs.
  • Engage with residents, family, staff, and volunteers positively, and participate in committee and community networking activities.
  • Perform lifeguard duties, assist with aquatics center cleaning, and model the organization’s principles in leadership and service.
  • Provide growth opportunities for staff, communicate effectively, and ensure compliance with policies and safety protocols.
Working Conditions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Daily walking, standing, sitting, talking, hearing, vision, handling equipment, assisting residents, swimming, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional outdoor work and driving.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoors with possible noise, exposure to chemicals, and use of safety gear.

Qualifications
  • Training in Recreation/Physical Education or experience as a lifeguard/swim instructor preferred.
  • Current CPR certification; willingness to obtain Shallow Water Lifeguard, Certified Pool Operator, Certified Swim Instructor, and Pesticide License certifications.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in fitness/aquatics training with older adults preferred.
  • Proficient with computer technology, good communication skills, leadership, dependability, and positive attitude.
