PMAR - Palacios Marine Agricultural Research, Inc. seeks an Aquaculture Specialist to care for aquatic species, operate and optimize production systems, and support research and innovation in marine aquaculture.

You will work with a team to maintain water quality, assist with spawning and grow-out, collect growth and health data, and help improve efficiency and sustainability across projects that support coastal restoration and local mariculture.

  • Maintain water quality and environmental conditions for optimal animal health
  • Assist with spawning, larval rearing, and grow-out operations
  • Support system maintenance, cleaning, and repairs
  • Collect and record data on growth, health, and system performance
  • Collaborate with research and production teams to improve efficiency and sustainability

Job description

This position is with PMAR - Palacios Marine Agricultural Research, Inc., an independent nonprofit organization located within one of our managed properties. Our company, Quincy Management, provides HR support to PMAR and is managing this recruitment process on their behalf.

Palacios Marine Agriculture Research (PMAR) is leading the way in sustainable aquaculture and marine food production. We operate a large oyster hatchery supporting reef restoration across coastal Texas and providing oyster seed to the growing local mariculture industry. Our team works across algae production, broodstock conditioning, larval culture, nursery operations, research projects, and field trials, pushing the boundaries of aquaculture innovation.

About the Role

As an Aquaculture Specialist, you’ll play a key role in caring for aquatic species, operating and improving production systems, and supporting research and innovation in marine aquaculture. You’ll collaborate with a passionate team to ensure healthy, sustainable aquaculture practices while contributing to projects that directly impact coastal ecosystems and the local mariculture industry.
