Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a systems engineer to support control system integration and MBSE activities for engine subsystems. You will develop and validate requirements and models for FADEC, sensors, actuators, fuel, and electro‑mechanical interfaces.

The role emphasizes ARP4754-based systems engineering, Cameo MBSE, and Simulink-based design to support both civilian and military programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM required or equivalent.
  • 8 years of engineering experience or 5 with advanced degree.
  • Basic knowledge of gas turbine engine operation, control, and system integration.
  • Experience in engine control system design and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Support control system integration across engine subsystems including FADEC, sensors, actuators, fuel systems, and electro‑mechanical components.
  • Develop, manage, and decompose system and subsystem requirements in accordance with ARP4754 guidelines.
  • Own requirements lifecycle activities including authoring, allocation, traceability, validation, and verification.
  • Support hardware selection, trade studies, and integration of sensors, effectors, and control system components.
  • Apply MBSE using Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Translate control system requirements into Model‑Based Design implementations in MATLAB Simulink for software development.
  • Develop and validate Simulink models for actuation systems (starter‑generators, fuel systems, pneumatic systems).

About the Role

Controls and Diagnostic Systems is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation. What you will do includes supporting the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and Expendable Turbojet (TJ) business units.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support control system integration across engine subsystems including FADEC, sensors, actuators, fuel systems, and electro‑mechanical components.
  • Develop, manage, and decompose system and subsystem requirements in accordance with ARP4754 guidelines.

  • Apply Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Translate control system requirements into Model‑Based Design implementations in MATLAB Simulink for software development.
  • Develop and validate Simulink models for actuation systems (starter‑generators, fuel systems, pneumatic systems).

Up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

You must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Either 8 years of engineering experience or 5 years with an advanced degree.
  • Basic knowledge of gas turbine engine operation, control, and system integration.
  • Experience in engine control system design and validation.

We prefer:

  • Familiarity with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Proficiency in system/software design tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler and MATLAB Simulink.
  • Experience in engine control input/output electrical interfaces.
  • Experience in fuel and actuation architecture studies and system design.
Benefits

Salary range: $107,500 USD – $204,500 USD. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Additional annual incentive compensation programs may be offered at certain levels. Relocation assistance is available.
