Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Procedural/First Assist team in the GYN Oncology Program. The role splits between inpatient care and operating room support, with occasional outpatient work, and may involve multiple locations.

Summary Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Procedural/First Assist - GYN Oncology Program Based in the Moffitt Medical Group (MMG) GYN Oncology Program, this position split between inpatient and OR (assisting in surgery) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position provides patient care under the auspices of the MMG and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer. This position will also occasionally work in the outpatient setting as needed. The ideal candidate will be flexible to provide services at multiple locations.

• Assists physicians in the OR and during surgery
• Works within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s).

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with many specialists to coordinate and optimize patient care.
• Correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.
• Formulates treatment plans for medical conditions within scope of practice.
• May perform minor surgical procedures within scope of practice.
• Prescribes oral and IV medications when appropriate, within the scope of practice.
• Documents patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.
• Assist in the OR in lieu of or in addition to, a Surgical Resident or Fellow.

Additional Information

This position with specifically work with Surgical Oncologists in the treatment and management of their patients. They will also assist in the OR with covering surgical cases with a supervising MD. They may assist the inpatient and outpatient care team under the guidance of the attending. This position will work closely with Residents and Fellows to care for the Surgical oncology patients.

Credentials and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree at minimum; master's degree preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Active FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and national certification by the appropriate accreditation body.
• Active BLS.
• Experience in surgery/OR, oncology or general internal medicine; experience specific to the specialty preferred.
• Experience as a First Assist/Bedside Assist in the OR preferred, Robotic Experience a plus, RNFA Certification a plus (if APRN).

Salary Range $138,424.00 - $211,120.00 Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
