Opportunity for High School Students: Apprentice - Utility Technician

This 6-month apprenticeship provides an overview of the water and wastewater industry. Successful completion leads to a full-time Utility Technician position at an Aqua location in Ohio. Key learning areas include:

  1. Operating and maintaining water distribution and sewer collection systems, including mains, valves, hydrants, service lines, and sewer manholes.
  2. Ensuring daily work complies with OEPA and PUCO regulations, as well as company safety policies.
  3. Performing maintenance on equipment used in water and wastewater systems.
  4. Reading and interpreting maps, drawings, schematics, and GIS data.
  5. Locating and marking mains, services, and facilities for construction.
  6. Customer service, meter reading, and treatment plant operations as assigned.
  7. Communicating effectively via email and text to meet customer requirements.
  8. Performing other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer/tablet applications.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk long distances.
