Job summary

Sonic Automotive in Nashville, TN is seeking an Apprentice Service Technician to perform vehicle repair and maintenance on Audi vehicles in accordance with dealer and factory standards. You will diagnose issues, perform repairs, document work, attend factory trainings, and collaborate with your mentor and service team to deliver quality, timely service while following safety policies.

Qualifications

• Audi or German-brand certification preferred.
• ASE certification or trade school cert is a plus.
• 1–2 years of automotive technician experience.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of automotive systems, components, and repair procedures.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair work accurately per repair order.
• Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Save and tag parts for warranty or customer requests.
• Inspect vehicles for additional safety or service needs and inform the service advisor.
• Road-test vehicles when required and document results.
• Maintain clear, detailed documentation of work performed.
• Follow safety policies and report any accidents.

About the Role

Apprentice Service Tech is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance on Audi vehicles as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform work as outlined on repair order with accuracy.
• Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
• Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is recommended.
• Notify service advisor if additional work outlined is needed or recommended.
• Notify service advisor immediately if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
• Document work performed.
• Road-test vehicles when required.
• Utilize the knowledge of your Mentor, Team Leader or Shop Foreman when necessary.
• Attend factory-sponsored training classes.
• Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
• Ensure that customers’ cars are kept clean.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, report any accidents to a manager or supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Audi (or German brand) Certified.
• ASE Certifications or trade school certification.
• 1-2 years of mechanic or automotive technician experience.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of automotive systems, components, and repair procedures.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
• All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, and valid driver license.

Compensation (Hourly)

• Apprentice Technician guaranteed minimum monthly income during apprenticeship period. Tuition reimbursement assistance included.
• Sonic offers zero premium medical plan after one year of service.

Schedule

• FULL TIME
• Monday thru Saturday availability
• Sundays off
