Job summary

Network Cabling Services (NCS) is seeking an Apprentice Cable Installer to support the installation of structured cabling systems across commercial, industrial, and institutional projects in Houston. This entry-level role offers hands-on training in low-voltage technology, including voice, data, and fiber optic cabling.

Under supervision, you will learn to terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot while following safety standards and project guidelines.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to learn structured cabling installation techniques.
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to work with hand and power tools.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Ability to travel to various project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

Assist with installing structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, coaxial, and other low-voltage cabling.
Pull, route, secure, and dress cables through conduit, cable trays, J-hooks, raceways, and other cable pathways.
Assist with terminating and testing copper and fiber optic cabling.
Learn to read blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and cable pathway drawings.
Install cable support systems, including conduit, cable trays, ladder racks, sleeves, and raceways.
Label cables, patch panels, faceplates, and equipment according to project specifications.
Document cable installations and testing results accurately.
Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting, repairs, and system installations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer site requirements.
Properly use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform other duties as assigned by project leadership.
