Job summary

Fayette Heating & Air in Lexington, KY is seeking an Apprentice Plumbing to learn the trade from experienced plumbers. You’ll gain hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in residential and commercial settings, while following safety protocols and building code requirements.

  • Mechanical aptitude with eagerness to learn the plumbing trade.

  • Willingness to work in varied environments including residential, crawl spaces, and outdoors.
  • Committed to completing state apprenticeship requirements toward journeyman licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed plumbers with installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems for residential and commercial projects.
  • Measure, cut, thread, join, and assemble pipes using hand and power tools under supervision.
  • Support troubleshooting and repair of leaks, clogs, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Read blueprints and job specs to ensure accurate installations.
  • Help install and maintain plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters.
  • Prepare and organize tools, materials, and job sites ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Follow all safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and local codes.
  • Provide professional, courteous service when interacting with customers.
  • Work closely with the plumbing team to meet project schedules and quality standards.
  • Participate in ongoing apprenticeship training and skill development toward licensure.

Role Overview

Apprentice Plumbing (2025-1035)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed plumbers with the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, gas, and hydronic piping for residential and commercial projects.
  • Measure, cut, thread, join, and assemble pipes and plumbing components using hand and power tools under supervision.
  • Support troubleshooting and repair of leaks, clogs, and other plumbing issues, including preventive maintenance tasks like flushing water heaters and inspecting pipes.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and job specifications to ensure accurate installations.
  • Help install and maintain plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, faucets, water heaters, boilers, disposals, and commercial restroom assemblies.
  • Prepare and organize tools, materials, and job sites, maintaining efficiency, cleanliness, and safety at all times.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and local plumbing codes.
  • Provide professional, courteous service when interacting with customers, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Work closely with the plumbing team to complete projects on schedule while meeting quality and code requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing apprenticeship training and skill development, gaining hand-on experience and advancing toward journeyman licensure.
