Job summary

NALHE is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform a range of semi-technical and clerical duties within the pharmacy setting. The role includes filling, packaging, restocking to fixed levels, and assisting pharmacists with prescription preparation and labeling.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, handling cashiering, processing payments, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations. Some duties may occur in hospital environments.

Qualifications

• Must have basic clerical skills and attention to accuracy.
• Familiarity with prescription labeling and cash handling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, members and health care personnel and initiates service transactions.
• Refers inquiries about patient-care/consultation to pharmacist.
• Assists inputting patient and prescription information to produce labels and assist in prescription filling.
• Matches prescriptions with labels, selects drug and quantity, fills container, applies labels and submits for pharmacist check.
• May prepare unit-dose medication supplies in hospital settings.
• Processes hospital drug requisitions and replenishes stock to fixed levels per schedule.
• Packs, compounds, and distributes inventory for dispensing and transfer.
• Balances cash and processes payments for services, ensuring receipts and reconciliations.
