Job summary

Mennel Milling Company in Bucyrus, OH, seeks an Apprentice Miller to learn flour milling operations under the Head Miller. This entry-level role emphasizes hands-on learning, safety, and progression to higher responsibilities.

You will work 6AM-2PM or 3AM-11AM shifts with overtime as required, supporting production, quality checks, and equipment adjustments while maintaining GMPs and food safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn milling operations.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.
• Good communication skills and ability to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate and support flour milling processes under the direction of the Head Miller or Shift Miller.
• Learn mill operations while helping ensure efficient production and adherence to food safety and quality standards.
• Coordinate flour transfers in alignment with production, quality, and customer specifications.
• Perform quality checks and food safety verification on flour transfers.
• Support daily mill operations, including mill adjustments and changes.
• Assist with equipment troubleshooting and basic repairs as needed.
• Support and guide mill operators to ensure tasks are completed effectively.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and audit-ready work environment following SOPs and sanitation schedules.
• Ensure compliance with GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA, and all food safety requirements.
• Attend training sessions and actively develop milling knowledge and skills.
• Cover for the Head Miller or Shift Miller when needed as skills progress.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As an Apprentice Miller, you will operate and support flour milling processes under the direction of the Head Miller or Shift Miller. You’ll play a key role in learning mill operations while helping ensure efficient production and adherence to food safety and quality standards.

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 1-3 years of manufacturing, food production, or related experience preferred
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn milling operations
• Ability to pass a respirator fit test and perform duties while wearing a respirator
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
• Ability to prioritize work and operate with minimal supervision over time
• Good communication skills and ability to work across teams
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar systems)
