Job summary

DOTD-Engineering & Operations in Louisiana seeks a dedicated equipment mechanic for District 05/Ouachita Parish. You will repair mobile and smaller equipment, using hand tools, diagnostic devices, and shop equipment, under the Mechanic Supervisor B.

Responsibilities include repairs to engines, transmissions, hydraulics, diagnostics with scanners and testers, and assisting teammates in shop or field. A Class D Chauffeur's License is required before appointment.

Qualifications

• No formal experience or training required.
• Must possess a Class D Chauffeur's License before appointment.
• Able to operate vehicles, heavy equipment, and use diagnostic tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Makes repairs to heavy and light duty mobile equipment including tune-ups, overhauls and rebuilds.
• Performs diagnostic tests and repairs using scanners, analyzers, testers, and hydraulic testing equipment.
• Performs engine tune ups and repairs to cooling and hydraulic systems.
• Assists mechanics in training and in shop or field repairs.
• May perform other duties including disaster support activities.
