Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, District 03, Lafayette, LA, is seeking a Mechanic to perform routine preventive maintenance and repair of small engines and mobile equipment. You will report to the Mechanic Supervisor A and be expected to work with minimal supervision, adapting to unforeseen conditions.

No experience or training is required. DOTD offers structured training programs and continuing education to facilitate performance and career growth in this role.

Qualifications

• No experience or training required.
• Willingness to complete DOTD training programs and continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Performs tire replacement, repair, and rotation for various mobile equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance on passenger vehicles, small engines and some heavy equipment.
• Maintains oil changes, lubrication, fluids, filters, and radiator hoses.
• Operates district shuttle truck between offices when needed.
• Performs other duties including emergency/disaster support as necessary.
