At G&H Ilminster, we specialise in the production of advanced optical components for aerospace and defence applications. Our Manufacturing Apprenticeship Programme is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience while studying towards industry-recognised qualifications. Over four years, you will develop a strong foundation in manufacturing, learning from experienced mentors while attending college on day release.
As a Manufacturing Apprentice, you will rotate through various departments, gaining experience in Polishing, Machine Shop, Coating, CNC, Quality, Procurement, and Engineering (subject to change). During your final year, you will specialise in a chosen area, receiving tailored training and assessment. You will play a crucial role in supporting production, ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, meeting quality standards and delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities
· Successfully complete all training modules and achieve the required academic qualifications
· Work across multiple departments to develop a broad skill set
· Follow work instructions and company procedures to maintain high-quality production
· Listen to and respect mentors, actively engaging in learning and development
· Provide progress reports at the end of each module and give feedback to mentors
· Complete job sheet documentation accurately, ensuring product integrity and traceability
· Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety regulations
· Adhere to all company policies, management systems, and operational procedures
· Foster strong working relationships with colleagues and external personnel
· Uphold and demonstrate G&H values: Customer Focus, Integrity, Action, Unity, and Precision
