Job summary

Green Mountain Power in Rutland, Vermont seeks a Lineworker Apprentice to develop skills for constructing and maintaining overhead and underground electric distribution systems. You will work under supervision, with emphasis on safety, scheduling, and learning the installation of meters and related equipment.

The role requires climbing, physical stamina, and progress through the approved training program while you contribute to emergency restorations and customer service duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Lineworker certificate or equivalent experience.
• Valid Vermont driver’s license; Class A CDL within 180 days after hire.
• Basic knowledge of electrical/mechanical maintenance and safety requirements.
• Strong written and spoken communication; math skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in constructing, installing and maintaining overhead and underground lines.
• Set and remove meters; handle pole work and equipment.
• Perform minor vehicle maintenance and coordinate with Lead Mechanic for repairs.
• Enrol in and complete state-approved Apprentice Line Maintainer program.
