Job summary

EMCOR Group is seeking an Apprentice Lineman/Groundsman in Spring, Texas. In this role, you will support linemen in installing and maintaining electrical distribution and transmission lines. Essential duties include setting up job sites, operating equipment, and maintaining tools. Ideal candidates have a basic understanding of electricity, follow safety protocols, and possess a driver’s license. The position offers varied outdoor work conditions and the opportunity to learn valuable skills in the power utility industry.

Job Summary

Apprentice Linemen/Groundsman works with line crews in the power/utility industry supporting linemen who install and maintain electrical distribution and transmission lines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Set up job sites and safety zones
• Hand tools and materials to lineman
• Dig holes, set poles and anchor guy wires
• Operate equipment augers, trenchers, bucket trucks
• Once trained direct traffic in work zones
• Maintain and organize tools and trucks

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of electricity and safety
• Ability to follow strict safety protocols
• Team communication - working closely with a crew
• Class C or Class A Driver's License; CDL preferred

Physical Demands

• Heavy lifting 50-100lbs
• Climbing
• Bending
• Working at heights
• Working outdoors in all weather (Texas heat included)

Work Environment

• Outdoor job sites such as utility right-of-way work, construction yards, or maintenance sites
• Variable conditions (traffic control zones, slopes, wet/ice surfaces, uneven ground)
