Job summary

The City of Fairburn is seeking an Apprentice Lineman to join the apprenticeship program under direct supervision, focusing on installing, maintaining and repairing overhead lines, underground cables, substations, and related equipment. This is a progressive role toward becoming a qualified Electric Lineman, reporting to the Electric Superintendent.

Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., with potential on-call rotation for emergencies and outages.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship program enrollment and progress toward becoming a Electric Lineman.
• Willingness to work on emergency outages and be on-call.
• Ability to perform installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and assist in maintenance of power distribution systems.
• Assist with installing and maintaining underground and overhead lines and substations.
• Support in installing transformers, insulators, and related equipment on poles and structures.
• Respond to emergencies and perform on-call duties as required.
• Adhere to safety rules and electrical codes.
