Job summary

City of Bryan is hiring an Apprentice Lineman for Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU). Responsibilities include climbing poles, operating equipment, and performing overhead/underground line work within a crew.

Entry starts at $25.07/hour as an Apprentice with higher starting pay for prior Lineman experience. Position requires completion of a four-year apprentice program and a Texas Class A CDL within 180 days of employment; residence within 30 minutes is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to progress through a four-year apprentice training program.
• Must possess at least three years of experience as a Lineman performing overhead/underground line construction.

Responsibilities

• Perform overhead and underground electric line construction and maintenance.
• Climb poles and work from an aerial lift.
• Operate equipment such as bucket trucks and derrick diggers.
• Troubleshoot electrical distribution problems as part of a crew.
